Crews from Swatara Fire & Rescue were busy today with several incidents. First was around 1000 hours, Rescue 91 was alerted to assist at a gas leak in Lower Swatara Twp. Due to the scale of the incident and the need for manpower, Engine 91-2 was alerted to respond as well. Crews were on scene for approximately an hour before returning

During the gas leak incident, around 1045 hours. Swatara Fire & Rescue was alerted for an accident on Eisenhower Blvd in the area of the township building. Chief 91 arrived and upgraded the response due to needing the removal of the passenger side door to remove the patient. Engine 40 (Paxtang) was returning from the gas leak call and arrived first to put their portable power unit in-service to start extrication. Truck 91 also responded and assisted with removal of the patient. Rescue 91-5 was dispatched and responded but was placed available as they arrived due to the patient being extricated.

Finally around 1620 hours, units were alerted to an automatic fire alarm at the former Weis store on Grayson Rd. The box was quickly placed available as the alarm company technician set off the system by accident.
